Netscape Colors and Java
Netscape 3 Java uses this set of 125 colors when displaying .gif images.

The colors are all possible combinations of red,green,blue=0,64,128,192,255
This color set is used regardless of the capabilities of the display. Colors
in images are reduced to these 125 even on a 24-bit deep display.
This affects only colors in images displayed in Java--text and solid colors in
Java are shown at the display color resolution.
JPEG images are not reduced in color resolution. They are shown properly.
However, JPEG is inefficient for images with large areas of flat color,
and does not support transparency.
The 125-color set should not be confused with the color set used by Netscape for
8-bit displays. That color set uses the following 216 colors
